Two Shelton men charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Izaiha Fryer pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in arraignments Tuesday before Judge Monty Cobb in Mason County Superior Court. Adrian E. Martinez-Lawson, 18, and Jack W. Evans, 19, both appeared by video from jail. Several of Fryer’s family members were in the courtroom watching the proceedings. Voters in the Hood Canal School District approved both levies on the Feb. 11 ballot. In the newest ballot totals posted Feb. 14 by the Mason County Auditor’s Office, the district’s replacement levy was passing at almost 60% while its capital levy for safety, critical infrastructure and technology upgrades garnered almost 54%. Voter turnout was 37.86%. The four-year renewal of an EP&O levy passed by voters four years ago had 1,215 “yes” votes for 59.94% and 812 “no” votes for 40.8%. Shelton city clerk earns honor Donna Nault, the clerk for the City of Shelton, earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk, which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc. Mason County treasurer to retire Lisa Frazier, Mason County treasurer for the past 25 years, has announced her retirement, effective July 1. On a snowy Saturday night years ago, Mason Transit Authority bus driver Lisa Davis was on Finch Creek Road in Hoodsport when her bus got stuck in the snow. She was carrying one passenger.
