Editor, the Journal,

As a school board member, I want to highlight an urgent issue affecting our schools — paused timber sales in Mason County that directly impact school funding.

The revenue generated from these sales plays a crucial role in supporting our schools, yet three timber sales in Mason County, collectively appraised at $1.5 million, have been placed on hold. These sales could generate an estimated $2.3 million, with a significant portion allocated to schools, including the Hood Canal and North Mason school districts.
