Council hears perils of youths abusing drugs

Shelton mayor favors banning products in city

Shelton native John Holbrook, now the director of safety and security for the Renton School District, is spreading the word that youths are getting high on synthetic products sold over the counter that mimic the effects of heroin, morphine, LSD, marijuana and alcohol.

Holbrook, who graduated from Shelton High School in 2005, talked about youth substance abuse prevention at the Shelton City Council’s study session Feb. 11 at the Shelton Civic Center. It was his seventh presentation to local groups.
