The North Mason High School c team captured the 2A District 3 title in commanding fashion.

Led by defending 155-pound 2A state champion Sadie Evans, the Bulldogs scored 196.5 points at the distict meet — finishing nearly 120 points ahead of second place Olympic.

Evans, 28-4 overall, defeated teammate Adrianna Crowley in the 155-point title bout, pinning her in 62 seconds.

Both qualified for this week’s 2A Mat Classic — the state championship meet — at the Tacoma Dome, which begins on Friday morning.

Natalie Roberts won the 105-pound title for the Bulldogs, pinning Port Angeles’ Margaret Conkle in 15 seconds in the title bout.

Other top four placers at the meet included, Mia Amick (110 pounds, 2nd), Evelyn Talbot (115, 2nd), Charlie McCalister (120, 3rd), Sydnnie Imlay (125, 3rd), Brooke Howard (130, 2nd), Alexis Jiminez (130, 4th), Juliet Freemire (135, 3rd), Ariel Evans (140, 2nd), Ariyah Kliski (140, 4th), Eliya Prichard (145, 3rd), Malia Moss (145, 2nd) and Camrynn Pike (170, 2nd).

The top two finishers in each weight class moved on to this week’s state meet.

North Mason boys wrestling

The North Mason boys wrestling team will send five wrestlers to this week’s 2A Mat Classic, the state wrestling championship meet, which begins Friday at the Tacoma Dome.

The top four finishers at Saturday’s 2A District 3 meet, at Bremerton High School, that advanced to the state meet are: Charles Broughton (150, 3rd), Brayden Bourboulis (157, 3rd), Michael Freemier (165, 4th), Jayse Gasca (175, 4th) and Calvin Rice (190, 3rd).

North Mason girls basketball

The North Mason High School girls basketball team split its opening two games at the 2A District tournament and will attempt to qualify for the 2A state tournament later this week.

The No. 6 seed Bulldogs opened the tournament with a 65-17 win over Orting on Saturday at Bulldog Gym in Belfair.

On Tuesday night at Port Angeles, the North Mason battled with the Roughriders to the final buzzer but came up just short in a 46-41 loss.

The Bulldogs will host No. 7 seed Clover Park at 6 tonight in a loser-out game at Bulldog Gym.

The winner of that game will face the loser of top-seeded Bainbridge and No. 5 seed North Kitsap on Saturday at Foss High School with a berth in the 2A state tournament field on the line.

North Mason boys basketball

The North Mason boys basketball team saw its season end in the 2A District 3 tournament.

The No. 6 seeded Bulldogs fell 61-59 to Foss on Saturday at Bulldog Gym in Belfair when their last-second attempt to tie came up just short.

Mary M. Knight girls basketball

The Mary M. Knight High School girls basketball team dropped its 1B District IV opener to Pe Ell 55-27 on Feb. 15 at Pe Ell, but rebounded to blow out Oakville 65-23 on Tuesday night at Raymond High School to keep their season alive.

The Owls will face Wahkiakum at 6 tonight at Raymond High School, with the winner advancing to the 1B state tournament.
