Albert Mel Smith

Albert Mel Smith was born on October 26th, 1940, to Zetha Smith and Albert Smith. He took his long journey with his family in attendance on November 9th, 2023.

Mel graduated from Irene S. Reed in 1959. From a young age Mel worked at Nalley Farm in Skokomish. After high school he started working for Simpson Timber Mill; then he was drafted to the United States Military in 1963 until 1965. Mel is a Vietnam Veteran, he proudly reached E4. When he returned home Mel started logging in Mason County then in Quinault, then he worked for Jackson Lumber Mill in Aberdeen. After that he returned to Mason County and became a commercial fisherman, Tribal Housing, SPIPA Food Program. Then he retired proudly after 22 years from the maintenance, department with the Nisqually tribe.

He is survived, by his wife, Audry Smith and his two daughters, Terri Capoeman and Alisa Woodruff (Chris), William Smith (Joyce) Danial Cush, Albert G. Smith. Josephine Rabuck (Jim), Geneva Underwood (Dicky) Verdesn (Deany).

Albert M. Smith was preceded in death by Zetha and Dan Cush, Albert and Hazel Smith, David Smith, Jacob Smith, Susan Smith, Lori Smith.

He has 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Forest Funeral Home in Shelton, WA. Flowers and Condolences can be sent to 313 W Railroad Ave, Shelton, WA 98584. The Funereal Service will be on November 17th, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Skokomish Community Center - 19731 US-101, Skokomish, WA 98584. Burial at the Skokomish Y Cemetery, and dinner to follow at the Community Center.
