Steve Hansen

Steve Hansen passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Michael's Hospital in Silverdale, Washington on March 8, 2024.

Steve was born in Bremerton on November 22, 1943, to Les and Jeanette (Wideen) Hansen. The family moved to Shelton in 1958 when Les bought Boone's Plumbing and Heating. Steve followed his dad into the plumbing business, eventually buying it and renaming it Hansen's Plumbing and Heating.

Steve graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1962. His first marriage to Judy Renecker gave him two wonderful children, Jill and Steve, Jr. In 1971, he married Janet Eddy and they had a beloved son, Eric. Janet passed away in 2008; Eric passed in 2022.

Steve was a generous man, often taking friends and family on excursions to SeaFair events and Seahawks games aboard the Sobre Los Olas. He was an avid boater all of his life, and in later years became a yacht broker, dba Hansen Yachts from his Seattle office.

He lived in Belfair for the past 38 years and established a loyal group of great friends there; good people who made his life easier by just being his friend. He was most often described as "a really nice guy". He loved Elvis, the Sea Hawks and collecting "stuff". He will forever be remembered as "Big Daddy" to those who knew him best.

Steve is survived by his daughter Jill (Jerry) Carlson and his son Steven, Jr., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Holly (Barry) Pettyjohn, his niece Melissa and his nephew Craig, as well as four wonderful step-children and their families, including Mike Eddy, Rick Anderson, Royce Trunkett and Dawn Stedman.

A private family celebration of his life will take place this summer.
