Bernard A. Hoag

Bernard A. "Gus" Hoag passed away March 28, 2024. Gus was born April 9, 1942 to Bernard M. Hoag and Dorothy Dehart Hoag in McCleary, Washington. Gus graduated from Elma High School in 1960 and attended Seattle University before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in Vietnam specializing as a military intelligence analyst. After he left the military, he worked in several timber related industries then began a career in credit unions, first with Mason County Federal Credit Union in Shelton and later at Employment Security Credit Union in Olympia (later known as Generations Credit Union). He retired in 2001.

In 1980, he married Barbara. They happily combined their two families and lived on Island Lake in Shelton, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard, his first wife, Margery Hungerford and son, Lance DiMatteo. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons John Hoag (Lisa Taylor), Brent Walton, daughter, Kristina Hoag and step daughter Kathleen Myer Obert; sisters Linda, Teresa, Lucretia, Julia, and Cindy; his grandchildren Kaira, Jacie and Jude Hoag, Luke and Logan Bridges, Khrystal and Kian Walton and Dylan Paul and great grandchildren Perrin and Oliver.

Our lives have been blessed by his love.
