Area runners headed to state cross country meets

Shelton High School senior cross county runner Lily Bennett, left, shown competing during the 2022 2A District IV cross country championship meet in Woodland, finished fourth at this year's district championships and will compete at the 2A state meet Saturday in Pasco. Bennett finished this year's race with a time of 19 minutes, 58 seconds.

Shelton senior Lily Bennett finished in fourth place at the District IV 2A girls cross country championship race Oct. 26 at Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland.

Bennett finished the race in 19 minutes, 58 seconds to qualify for the state 2A girls cross country championship race at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Shelton first-year student Alisha Carpenter also qualified for the state race with a 11th place finish in 20:35. Sophomore Madison Lohmeyer finished 29th in 21:55.
