Public Works sponsors Fill the Truck event
In celebration of Public Works Week, Mason County Public Works is partnering with the City of Shelton Public Works for “Fill A Public Works Truck” charity event from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today. The truck will be at OCCU Uptown, 2948 Olympic Highway North, the northwest corner of 7th Street and Railroad Avenue in Shelton and the Belfair QFC at 201 Northeast state Route 300 in Belfair.
New, unopened toiletries, non-perishable food and cash and check donations will be accepted.
All items collected in Shelton will be donated to Saints’ Pantry Food Bank and Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center in Shelton. Belfair donations will be donated to the North Mason Food Bank in Belfair.
U-turn on U.S. 101 causes collision, serious injury
A Shelton man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after striking another vehicle making a U-turn on U.S. Highway 101 at Wallace Kneeland Boulevard May 13, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Jordan Roderick, 22, of Shelton, suffered serious injuries in the rollover collision when Lacey resident Kristine Woodall, 43, was traveling south on U.S. 101 and attempted a U-turn, crashing her Jeep Grand Cherokee into Roderick’s northbound Honda Civic, according to the WSP news release.
Both vehicles came to rest blocking the northbound lane.
Woodall was charged with second-degree negligent driving, the release states.
Two from Belfair injured in crash near county line
A Belfair man suspected of drunken driving caused a three-vehicle collision on state Route 3 at Lake Flora Road near the Mason-Kitsap county line on May 15, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.
Bryan Metcalf, 42, of Belfair, was charged with following too close and DUI, according to WSP.
Metcalf was traveling south on Route 3 when he struck a vehicle driven by Belfair resident Ashley Cardwell, 36, that was stopped at a light just south of Lake Flora Road. Cardwell then struck the vehicle in front of her and continued into the southbound embankment and struck a tree, according to WSP.
