Irene Estelle Slagle (Ormiston)

7/11/32 - 5/1/2025

In loving memory, we announce the passing of Irene Estelle Slagle (Ormiston), who peacefully left us May 1, 2025.

Irene was born to Charles "Doc" and Dawn Eddy, July 11, 1932 in Bremerton, WA. She was the youngest of five children, raised on the south shore of Hood Canal. She spent the majority of her life on the family property known as Rose Point Resort.

In 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Gerald (Elmer) Slagle and they had three children. Some of her happiest years were spent with family enjoying the beauty and simplicity of canal life. Music was a big part of her life, singing and playing the piano at the resort with family, with her children and in the choir at Belfair Community Church. Irene worked 23 years at Belfair Drug Store where she made a lasting impression on the community. She had a quick wit, a welcoming smile, and will be remembered for her humor and giving spirit. She was widowed in 2005 and was blessed to be united with Wayne Ormiston for the remainder of her life. Wayne brought his love for travel and camping, and they enjoyed 19 years of happy adventures together. She loved Wayne's family and grandchildren immensely. They moved to Country Meadows Senior Living in Silverdale, where they made many friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Harriet Allen, Virginia Trammell, Albert Eddy, Nita Baselt, husband Elmer Slagle and son Steven Slagle. She is survived by daughters Joni Slagle, Jill Sullivan (Dan), grandchildren Jim Slagle (Kelly), Melissa Lewis, Amanda Hedger (Jeremy), Morgan Bradley (Ed), Shay Sullivan and great-grandchildren Kate, Jackson and Luke Lewis, Charlotte and Ford Bradley, and Sullivan Hedger.

Per her wishes there will be a joyous family celebration of life on the shores of Hood Canal.
