David Taylor, age 69, of Belfair, Washington, passed away unexpectedly in his home on April 30, 2025. A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend, Dave touched countless lives with his endless generosity, unwavering kindness and steadfast dedication to family.
Born on January 15, 1956 in Seattle, Washington to Richard and Arlene Taylor. Richard served 21 years in the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Torpedo man. From a young age, Dave demonstrated an innate curiosity mixed with a genuine enthusiasm for life. Friends and family fondly recall him as a person who loved everyone, welcomed every individual openly and sincerely and was always the first to step forward when help was needed.
Dave pursued his passion for building and creating by attending the University of Washington, graduating with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Equipped with his education, a strong work ethic, and a heart filled with dreams, he began his lengthy and successful career at Puget Sound Naval Base. Over his 45 years of dedicated service, Dave earned the respect of his colleagues and inspired generations with his work ethic, dedication and commitment to excellence.
In 1980, two of Dave's greatest milestones happened: He began his lifelong career at the naval base and married the love of his life, Renee. For 45 beautiful years, their partnership was a testament to commitment, love and teamwork. Together, Dave and Renee raised six extraordinary children: Rachel, Naomi, Kate, Matthew, Jacob, Daniel, and Eli. The Taylor home was always bustling, full of laughter and warmth, and Dave and Renee lovingly opened their doors and hearts, caring for many more beyond their immediate family.
Dave was not just a builder at heart professionally; he poured his passion for craftsmanship into personal projects as well, most notably constructing a stunning log home for his beloved family-a reflection of his artistry, commitment and enduring love. Outside of work and family life, Dave found joy and fulfillment working around his property, woodworking in his workshop, raising animals and enthusiastically following his favorite sports teams, especially his Washington Huskies. He was incredibly proud of all his grandchildren, attending sporting events, school activities, plays and concerts.
Those who knew Dave best will treasure the moments when he eagerly encouraged others to step outside their comfort zone, always insisting that life was best experienced through exploration and trying something new. He exemplified boldness matched with unwavering support, a rare and impactful blend.
Dave Taylor is survived by his mother Arlene; siblings Kathy, Elizabeth, Debbie, Richard, Jr. devoted wife Renee; children Rachel, Naomi, Kate, Matthew, Jacob, Daniel, and Eli; grandchildren; Bella, Aiden, Gabe, Waylon, Oliver, Emmett and Cooper and numerous other family members and dear friends.
