Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886

Al and Jean Lester

They came into this world a few months apart and left the same way.

Alvin "Al" Edward Lester Jr. | March 10, 1937, Outlook, WA - January 3, 2024, Olympia, WA

Mary "Jean" Wilson Yearout Lester | May 8, 1937, Marshall, NC - February 8, 2025, Olympia, WA

People can be recalled by two dates but these two will be remembered for the dash in between. Al and Jean met going to school in Sunnyside, WA. After school, Al joined the U. S. Navy and Jean went to beauty school. They were married August 31, 1957. Their family grew with two boys, Ed and John, born while stationed in New London, CT. Returning to the farm that Al was born on in Sunnyside, WA they welcomed their daughter Tami. After moving to Mason County in 1976, Al began working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard with Jean working for Mason County Sherriff's Office. After retiring in their mid 50's, they moved to Sequim. Seeing the family grow to eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Al would often say "My two greatest accomplishments are my marriage and my children." Al and Jean always kept the other one first. Through 68 years of marriage, touching every time they passed each other and slow dancing anywhere at any time just to be close was constant.

Other passions they shared were having family by blood or by choice gathering around their table filling the air with laughs and their bellies with great food and helping others, mostly behind the scenes, by trying to lessen someone else's pain.

The family would like to thank all their loved ones and friends for their support and love over the last couple years. A special "thank you" for Richard and his staff at Olympia Adult Home for their care of our parents and allowing us to be children in the last few months.
