Open enrollment underway

The Shelton School District is conducting open enrollment for students who live within the district’s boundaries, including students entering kindergarten.

The enrollment also includes intra-district transfers. Students who live in the district who want to transfer from one elementary school to another must complete an intra-district request each year.

Choice transfer requests must be completed by district students who want to attend school in another district, or students who live outside of the Shelton School District’s boundaries and want to attend a school inside the district. Parents and guardians can also fill out forms to show their intent to provide home-based instruction.

MMK calendar for 2025-26

The Mary M. Knight School District released its schedule for the 2025-26 school year.

An open house and Back to School night is hosted on Aug. 22. Classes begin on Aug. 26. Hours for both schools are from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other notable dates for fall include the end of the first quarter Oct. 28, fall conferences Oct. 29-31, no school on professional day Nov. 10, no school for Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Thanksgiving vacation Nov. 26-28 and winter break Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.

Dates in 2026 include no school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19, the end of the first semester Jan. 22, no school for professional day Jan. 23, no school for Presidents Day on Feb. 16, snow make-up days, if needed, Feb. 17 and March 13, the end of the third quarter March 31, spring conferences April 1-3, spring break April 6-10, a snow day if needed May 4, no school for Memorial Day on May 25, graduation June 6 and the last day of school June 11.

Half-day early dismissals are on Oct. 29, 30 and 31 and Dec. 19 in 2025, and April 1, 2 and 3 and May 1 in 2026.
