Easter egg hunt for kids in Union

The New Community Church of Union hosts a community Easter egg hunt starting at 1 p.m. April 19 at 951 E. Dalby Road in Union.

Kids ages 1 through 12 can participate. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call the church at 360-898-7855.

Local authors in Hoodsport

About 20 local authors will read from their works and autograph copies of their books from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 at St. Germain Church, 600 Lake Cushman Road, Hoodsport.

The authors include Rebecca Holbrook, Darlene Ramirez, Paul Sating, Jeffrey Greb, Jacob Zappy, Allan Mullen, Heddy Simmons, Melissa Peterson, Susan Lampe, Dawn Smart, Mindy Hardwick, Sterling Warner, Jerrie Catera, Hal Burton, Cathy Warner, Raine Reiter, James Coventry and Carolyn Maddux.

Ride the rails on Easter Bunny Special

The Peninsular Railway and Lumbermen’s Museum hosts its annual Easter Bunny Special event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at Simpson’s former Stillwater yard 10 miles west of Shelton.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for kids. Attendees can get their photo taken with the Easter bunny, enjoy hot chocolate and collect eggs. Get a temporary tattoo – and of course ride in a restored caboose behind a restored locomotive.

The newly restored Locomotive 900 was purchased in 1954 by the Simpson Logging Co. The 900-horse-power diesel electric locomotive replaced a steam engine. It will be pulling the restored Caboose 1201.

Concert spotlights Motown hits

The Mason County Concert Association’s 2024-25 season concludes with “Legacy Motown and More” from 3 to 5 p.m. April 27 at the Shelton School District Performing Arts Center at Shelton High School, 3737 Shelton Springs Road.

Admission is $30 at the door.

Legacy is an international male vocal group from New York City. The cast includes members from Broadway’s acclaimed production of “Motown the Musical.” A news release from the Mason County Concert Association states “these remarkable entertainers deliver show-stopping performances featuring iconic concert hits spanning from The Beatles to Bruno Mars and everything in between. With dynamic performances witnessed all over the world in theaters, luxury cruise lines, performing art centers and corporate events, Legacy’s shows are filled with powerhouse vocals, smooth dance moves and genuine charm. Their signature show, ‘Motown and More,’ invite audiences on a high-energy musical journey through decades, offering something for everyone.”
