Lunar eclipse

Journal reader and Union resident Cathy Warner captured this photo of a total lunar eclipse just after midnight on Friday, March 14, from Union. A blood moon lunar eclipse happens when Earth lines up between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow that tints the moon red. The first full moon of March is known as the Worm Moon, marking the thawing of the ground at the end of winter.
