Rollover causes serious injury on Route 108

An Elma woman was airlifted to St. Jospeh Medical Center in Tacoma after a single-vehicle rollover on state Route 108 Saturday.

Sheri Richards, 52, was driving too fast for conditions when she lost control of her Ford F150 truck on a westbound curve on Route 108 at milepost 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

She struck a dirt embankment and rolled the truck, coming to rest in the eastbound lane, a WSP news release states.

Richards has been charged with first-degree negligent driving and third-degree driving while license is suspended/revoked, according to WSP.

Sheriff’s Office warns of caller scam

In a social media post last week, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office says that it has received reports of scam phone calls from someone falsely claiming to be an employee of the MCSO Civil Division.

The post says the the impersonator is using a local phone number to appear credible and said to be on the lookout for (360) 519-1993.

The Sheriff’s Office advises people to protect themselves by:

■ Do not provide personal information: Never give personal details, financial information or identification numbers over the phone to unsolicited callers.

■ Verify caller’s identity: Independently verify by contacting the agency directly through official channels.

■ Be cautious with callbacks: If suspicious, do not return the call; instead, directly contact the official number provided above.

■ Report suspicious activity: Inform us immediately and file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint.

■ Educate others: Share this information with friends, family and neighbors, particularly those vulnerable to such scams.

Stay vigilant and protect yourself from fraud. Share to help prevent others from becoming victims of this scam.
