Green Diamond offers scholarships

The deadline is tomorrow to apply for a Mark E. Reed Scholarship from the Green Diamond Resource Co.

High school and undergraduate college students are eligible to apply for scholarships for the 2025-26 school year. Recipients will receive $3,000 scholarships.

Starting this year, all applications must be submitted at http://www.greendiamond.com. A news release from Green Diamond states the online portal is part of the company’s effort to streamline the process for applicants and support the administration and reviews of applications for scholarships. Eligible students have the ability to save their application and submit it when all their information and materials needed for consideration are uploaded.

People eligible for the scholarships include employees, spouses and employees who work for the Green Diamond Resource Co. and Green Diamond Management Co., and students who live in the company’s operating areas. Scholarships are available in the following areas: Northwest timberlands, Oregon operations, California timberlands, Montana timberlands (employees or spouses or children of employees only), the Columbia basin management area (employees or spouses or children of employees only) and southeast operations (employees or spouses or children of employees only).

The scholarships can be used for tuition, books or living expenses incurred while pursuing education beyond high school. During the academic year of the scholarship, award recipients must attend school full time.

The scholarship program was established in 1947 in the memory of Reed, who was president of the Simpson Logging Co. from 1914 until his death in 1933.
