Allyn UGA comments sought

Mason County is reviewing the Allyn Urban Growth Area zoning and development regulations for its comprehensive plan.

Community members can comment on land-use matters within the AUGA at a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Port of Allyn meeting room, 18560 East state Route 3 in Allyn.

The county is required every 10 years through the Growth Management Act to create a comprehensive plan that develops a vision for the community.

Principal leaves district

James A. Taylor High School Principal Alexia Hadfield has accepted a position at another school, according to the North Mason School District.

Hadfield will become Careers Technical Education director for Central Kitsap School District, according to a news release.

“Alexia has greatly contributed to the advancement of North Mason’s CTE and ALE (Alternative Learning Experience) programs, positioning us well for continued success and growth in these areas. Students will benefit from these robust programs for many years to come. We wish Lexi the best as she embarks on her new position at Central Kitsap,” NMSD Superintendent Dana Rosenbach said in the release.

NMHS schedules alumni basketball game

North Mason High School’s alumni basketball game is at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 in the school’s gym at 150 East North Mason School Road in Belfair.

The theme is Old School vs. New School, according to the district’s website.

Students/seniors/military are $5 and a family pack for two adults and two kids is $25. The event is a fundraiser for the boys and girls basketball teams.

Alumni who want to play can register through the North Mason Bulldog Boosters Facebook page.

Belfair library sale

North Mason Friends of the Library in Belfair is hosting a two-day book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17 at the North Mason Timberland Library, 23081 state Route 3 in Belfair.

Hundreds of fiction, nonfiction and children’s books will be for sale with hardbacks for $2 and paperbacks for $1. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

The Friends’ main source of funding comes from book sales, according to a news release.

The nonprofit is “committed to maintaining, promoting and expanding the library and its services,” the release states.

Chamber after hours at Bent Bine Brew

The North Mason Chamber of Commerce will have an after hours event at 5 p.m. Feb. 13 at Bent Bine Brew Co., 23297 state Route 3 in Belfair.

The member-only event is free.

Members can enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, according to the chamber.

Sign language for kids at Belfair library

North Mason Timberland Library, 23081 state Route 3 in Belfair, is hosting a sign language class for kids, Rise and Sign, Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in February. Preschool age kids and their families are welcome to join, according to the library.

“Little hands learn to talk in this playful and interactive program that introduces kids and their grown-ups to the magic of American Sign Language. Kids will discover how to use signs for everyday words while having a blast learning and connecting in a whole new way,” according to a news release.

Chamber gala full

The North Mason Chamber of Commerce gala is sold out and a waiting list is available by contacting sarah@northmasonchamber.com.

The gala, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 28 at Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union, is an annual event where members install the new 2025-2026 board of trustees and present awards, including new business of the year.

The theme is Western Glam and will have music by Michael Anthony Pratt Band. There is also a silent auction.
