The Shelton High School boys basketball team returned from its holiday break to face Capital in a nonconference game on Monday at Terry Gregg Court in Shelton, falling 38-29 to the Cougars.
Shelton fell to 2-9 overall with the loss.
The game was tied at 15-all at halftime before Capital edged away in the second half.
Shelton began Evergreen Conference play on Wednesday at Black Hills.
