A crew Tuesday morning paves the way for better student pedestrian and biking safety in front of Evergreen Elementary School in downtown Shelton. Crews on March 27 began construction on three Safe to School projects. The city is creating crosswalks and other improvements on Shelton Springs Road at Shelton High School and the Huff'n'Puff Trail; Seventh and Franklin streets, in front of Evergreen; and two blocks away near Safeway, at Ninth and Franklin streets. Construction is expected to continue through May 25. Funding includes a $770,103 state grant.
