Nathan "Nate" Lee Ank, 41, of Shelton, WA passed away at home, surrounded by family on July 26, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Nate was born on September 5, 1982, in Aberdeen, WA to Rodney and Teri (Church) Ank.
Nate was caring, selfless, protective, hardworking, strong and loving. He had a wicked sense of humor and kept everyone around him laughing. He also had a deep passion for his family, hunting, fishing and working with guns.
Nate worked for the WA Department of Corrections (DOC) beginning August 1, 2002. He began his career as a Correctional Officer at Stafford Creek Corrections Center, later transferred to the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, eventually promoting to Sgt. Just prior to his illness he had promoted to the Firearms Training Specialist at DOC Headquarters in Tumwater.
Nate married his high school sweetheart, Marisa (Stigall) Ank on July 27, 2002. She survives him at the family home in Shelton along with their son, Hunter Anthony Ank. He is also survived by their daughter, Chloe Nicole Ank of Bozeman, MT, his parents; Rod and Teri Ank, sisters Maryssa Ank, Karli (Cody) DeWall all of Shelton, brother RJ Ank of Bremerton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy and love of family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
