Maryln Jerue

Maryln Jerue was born to Ardell and Lester Edens on July 10, 1937, in Centralia, WA. She went to be with our Father in Heaven on December 15, 2022. Maryln was 85.

Maryln was a graduate of South Kitsap High in 1955. She married Bill Carlson shortly after they both graduated from South Kitsap High. Bill and Maryln had four children, Mike Carlson (Julia), Howard Carlson (Dawn), Judi Mc Ferron (Pat) and Susan Carlson Fisher. Maryln later married Larry Jerue and has four step-children, Vicki Jerue, Mark Jerue (Debra), Paul Jerue (Tricia), and Michelle Jerue Watson (Jeff). Together Maryln and Larry have 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bill and Maryln started out together in Port Orchard and lived on the Bethel Burley Rd. They had a logging company which they started in Port Orchard and later moved up to Waldron Island, a remote island in the San Juans. They bought 500 acres of timbered land on Waldron and had a logging camp there. She was active helping in the logging business by doing the accounting, cooking for the loggers, doing laundry with a generator powered wringer washer and clothes drying lines inside an army tent with a wood stove. She did lots of hard work, all while having four kids from two to nine years old. Maryln said that living on Waldron with no electricity, phones, stores or paved roads was "the longest camping trip she ever had".

In 1984 Maryln and Larry married. Larry was a dentist on Mercer Island. Shortly after Maryln and Larry were married, Larry sold his dental practice, retired and the two of them moved to their home on Hood Canal. Larry and Maryln had a wonderful life together. They traveled to faraway places like Egypt went on ocean cruises, and had yearly winter stays for sun in Palm Desert, CA. In the summers at the Canal home, they had "classic" 4th of July parties. Sometimes close to 100 guests would attend. Maryln and Larry loved having "Santa" parties too. Each of these family and friendship parties became lifelong fond memories for all of us.

Maryln is survived by her husband Larry, sister Carolyn, children, Mike, Julia, Howard, Dawn, Vicki, Mark, Debra, Paul, Tricia, Jeff and Michelle, grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Joshua, Mitchell, Fahren, Krinda, Sarah, Michael, Ingrid, Taylor, Brian, Matt, Jack, Brian, Liza, Olin, Emily, Karissa and Bridget, great grandchildren, Hunter, Faela, Charlotte, Kai, Rylen, Jack, Isla, Eisley, Teddy, Blake and Levi.

Maryln was preceded in death by her father and mother Lester and Ardell, her step father Stanley Moen, daughters Judi and Susan and her granddaughter Amanda. Marylyn was truly the matriarch of our family. Rarely do "blended families" become as close as the Jerue and Carlson siblings are to this day. Maryln was the most loving, generous and graceful lady that anyone could ever be.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. January 7th, 2023 at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard, WA.
