Trio of bluegrass bands at Shelton High

The SteelHead Bluegrass Band, Borrowed Time and local band Runaway Train will perform bluegrass music at the Kristmas Town Kiwanis' Midwinter Bluegrass Celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 30 in the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.

Admission for the eighth annual concert is $20 for adults, and kids 15 and younger are admitted for free.

The SteelHead Bluegrass Band is based in Bremerton and plays traditional and contemporary bluegrass.

Borrowed Time features Martin Stevens, Josh Adkins, Jake Monroe and Kaiti Dewhirst.

The longtime friends have been showcased in other local bands, including The Bluegrass Regulators, Kristen Grainger and True North, Topstring and The Scudrunners.

Formed in 2000, Runaway Train is the host band for the summer Bluegrass from the Forest event in Shelton, also staged by the Kristmas Town Kiwanis Club. The band features Greg Linder on guitar, Kent Powell on bass, John White on mandolin, Doug Wenzen on banjo, and special guest River Scheurell on fiddle.

The summer Bluegrass from the Forest Festival will be July 7 to 9 at the South Mason Youth Soccer Park on Johns Prairie Road.
