    James "Jim" Dalton Edwards a local retired shellfish farmer and outdoorsmen died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the age of 82, at his home in Shelton, WA. Jim was born in grand Junction, Colorado, on June 21, 1939. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1957. After joining the Army and serving in Germany, he returned home and worked as a commercial fisherman.     In updated election results released by Mason County at 1:18 p.m. Thursday, Miguel Gutierrez took a three-vote lead over George W. Blush in the Shelton City Council Position No. 7 race. Blush led Gutierrez in Tuesday’s first vote count by 23 votes. The lead shrank to a single vote in Wednesday’s second count. After Thursday’s count, which is the last scheduled until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Gutierrez led 714-711. In North Mason, the North Mason School District levy is now passing by 43 votes.     Debra Lynn Cermak-Goldy passed away, loved and surrounded by her children on October 24th, after a brief cancer battle. She was 54 years old. Debbie was born Debra Lynn Cermak to Wayne and Barbara Cermak on November 14th, 1966, in Olympia, Washington. A native Northwesterner, Debbie spent the first part of her life Lacey, and finished high school in Shelton, Washington, where she would later settle and raise a family.     Leah Allen from Federal Way, WA, passed away from complications after having hip surgery on October 26, 2021. She was born in Havre, Montana in 1932. Parents were Gerald and Stephana (Vylasek) Needham. Leah and her brothers and sisters attended schools in Shelton, WA, while the family lived at Dayton Peak Lookout Station.     James Clark Brooks was born March 25th, 1949, and passed away from lung cancer on March 21st, 2021. He grew up on Spencer Lake. He was in the Navy from 1968 to1972, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. His career was mostly spent with the Simpson Timber Company. Jim enjoyed outdoor activities, waterskiing, parachuting and hang gliding, mountaineering, marathon running and bicycling, and hiking remote beaches and forests.
