Veteran | United States Air Force
Marvin Andrew Voskuhl passed away on February 1, 2025. He was born in Minster, Ohio on August 13, 1946, to Aloysius and Irma (Hickey) Voskuhl.
Marvin attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he met his wife, Claire. On graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and spent 28 years on active duty. His first assignment was to Griffiss AFB, NY, as a B-52 navigator, flying over 3,000 hours. Among his other assignments, he served as a Bomb Nav Instructor at Mather AFB, CA, Squadron Commander at Rantoul AFB, IL, and Loring AFB, ME. After attending National War College in Washington, DC, he had several assignments at the Pentagon and the White House. His favorite assignment of all, though, was as Base Commander at Shemya AFT, Alaska, nearly the last tiny island in the Aleutian chain where his boss was 1,000 miles away. After retirement, he was tired of the DC traffic. In 2002, he found a beautiful house on the internet in Shelton, Washington, where he moved with Claire, his wife of 54 years. He loved to figure out how to fix things, doing all of the maintenance in the house and on the cars. He was always available to help friends and neighbors, and was generous to everyone who needed him. We all miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Claire (Petrus), his children, Gretchen Voskuhl (John Hayes), Justin Voskuhl (Ryan Saville), Sara Voskuhl (Vinnie Christ), five grandchildren, and three sisters, Mary Ellen Pope, Veronica Leib and Alice Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Voskuhl, and sister Rose Ann Buschur.
