Kyle Denise Fulwiler

January 6, 1953 - August 6, 2024

Kyle Denise Fulwiler was born January 6, 1953 in Seattle, WA to parents Cliff and Lela Fulwiler, joining big brother Brian. Kyle graduated from Bellevue Senior High School in 1971. She was active in the youth programs at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina and figure skated at Bellevue Ice Rink, participating in many competitions across the Northwest.

Upon graduation, Kyle worked for Sea-Land Maritime Shipping before deciding to travel Europe. She attended Le Cordon Bleu Cookery School in London to become a professional chef. She was Executive Chef for the Washington State Governor's Office, cooking gourmet meals for groups of two to 80 for Governors Spellman, Gardner, Lowry, Locke, and Gregoire. She authored cookbooks, including Celebration: A Washington Cookbook, highlighting produce from across the state.

Kyle lived most of her adult life on the Hood Canal on her family's property near Potlatch, a place she loved dearly and which brought her peace and happiness. She had a greenhouse where she cultivated tomatoes and brought life back to neglected orchids. She would fish, crab, shrimp, and collect oysters, just steps from her front door. She enjoyed feeding friends and family and creating beautiful cakes for special events. Kyle thoroughly enjoyed fly fishing for salmon in Alaska with her husband Mike and golfing whenever and wherever she travelled. She and Mike also enjoyed cruising all over the world visiting new places and cultures and sampling new cuisines.

She was involved in the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier, an organization for women leaders in food, beverage, and hospitality; and the Olympia Governor's Mansion Foundation. She kept and closely monitored a weather station at her home, loved her pets from amphibians to geese to cats, and always looked forward to July 4th celebrations and fireworks.

Kyle passed away August 6, 2024 at the age of 71. She is survived by her husband, Mike Sauvé, and step-daughter Cadi Russell-Sauvé (John Waugh); brother Brian Fulwiler (Helen); nephews and nieces Derek Fulwiler (Jen), Jonathan Fulwiler (Jill), Katharine Daderko (Peter), and Tim Anderson (Sara) and nine great-nephews and nieces who love their aunt and always looked forward to special treats and beautifully decorated cookies.

Kyle was kind, gentle, generous, and pure of heart and will be much missed by friends, family, and colleagues.
