Jeffrey Steven Schafer

Jeffrey "Jeff" was born on March 14, 1948, in Port Townsend WA, and passed away on July 23, 2024, at Harborview Medical Center from complications of Agent Orange, at the age of 76.

Jeffrey was born to Clifford L. Schafer and Lura Mae (Morse). Jeff attended Quilcene (Evergreen) School from Kindergarten through his high school graduation. Jeff served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970, he earned numerous medals, and spent most of his service in Vietnam. He was an active member of the Quilcene VFW Post #3213. He worked for the United States Forest Service as a heavy equipment operator, until his retirement.

He married Carol M. Gilroy on June 19, 1976, in Amanda Park, WA. They spent the early years of their marriage living in Lake Quinault, before moving back and residing in Quilcene. He and Carol share two children, Danielle and Clifford. His wife, Carol M. Gilroy passed away on October 24, 2006. On July 10, 2010, he married Sandra Lynn Johnson of Shelton. They shared 14 years married, and a total of 17 beautiful years together.

Jeff loved his family; hunting; his hobby of cutting and splitting firewood; the outdoors; his kitty Gracie Mae; ice cream; and his word search puzzles. He also loved to make people laugh and took pride in being a grandpa.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Lura Mae Schafer, and wife Carol M. Gilroy. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Lynn Schafer of Quilcene; Brother Michael (Marge) Schafer of Quilcene; Daughter Danielle (Joshua) Grubbs of Idaho; Son Clifford

Schafer of Quilcene; Stepson Josh (Emerald) Mulanax of Bellevue; Grandchildren McKenzie, Marissa, Carter, Brody, and Brooklyn; Best friend and hunting partner Adam Boling of Brinnon.

To follow his wishes, there will not be a public service or celebration of life.
