Gary Val Jackson

Gary Val Jackson, of Lake Cushman, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by his children, Gary Jr., Kevin and Tracy.

Gary was born November 11, 1938 to Gus V. and Betty (Millar) Jackson in Seattle, WA and spent his childhood in Ballard, graduating from Ballard High School. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1960 and served four years and was part of the U.S. Army Reserves until January 1966. Gary moved to Hoquiam after leaving the Army and began working for Lambs Grays Harbor in 1964 as a welder. He moved to Olympia in 1984 where he worked for the State of Washington and Tumwater Valley Golf.

Gary was a kind, gentle and loving husband and father. He was goofy and always was a quick wit. He was active and youthful even at 85. He enjoyed playing golf and puttering around his home working on projects and big plans.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents Gus and Betty Jackson, and brother Ted Jackson. He is survived by his sons, Gary Jr., Kevin (Jan) Dahl, and his daughter, Tracy (Steve) Dahl-Lougheed, brother Terry Jackson, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Judy’s children Gregg Lewis, Brenda (Jeff) Philpot and their two sons.
