Ann Elizabeth McGrady Kimball (Lennox)

Ann Elizabeth McGrady Kimball (Lennox) was born May 11, 1941, in Somers Point, NJ where she lived with her mother, Ruth, grandmother, Irma, and her aunt, Sandra, who was like a sister to her until the age of 15.

Following Ruth's marriage to Daniel Sullivan, they moved to Long Island, where Ann became the big sister to five siblings: Daniel, Sandra, Colleen, James, and Ruth. They considered her a second mother and enjoyed a unique and special bond. Ann graduated from Hauppauge High School on Long Island in 1959, and she worked in the healthcare and food service industries. She married Seamus McGrady and moved to Connecticut, where they had two children, Dan and Maggie. The family moved across the country to Lilliwaup, WA, on Hood Canal, and lived in the McGrady family home. A lifelong career in hospitality led her to restaurants along Hood Canal, where she treated everyone like family.

On March 20, 1994, Ann married Tom Kimball and lived in the Shelton area for 30 years. Together they shared their love of horses, crossword puzzles and nature. Ann was a great cook and generously shared her recipes. She was an avid reader and loved the feeling of a book in her hands. She had a great love for cats, relished the sound of waves at the shore, and her greatest love was spending time with her family. Her sense of humor was very unassuming. Her unique mixture of subtle wit and cleverness left everyone with a pleasant smile, lightened mood and unexpected good laugh.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Seamus. Ann is survived by her husband Tom; siblings Dan (Laura), Sandra (Bob), Colleen (Lou), James, and Ruth (Colin); children Maggie (Diego) and Dan (Jeanne); many stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A potluck memorial is being held for Ann on Saturday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Matlock Community Church on Matlock-Deckerville Road.
