Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
December 22, 1935 - December 5, 2023
Gary Probert, 87, passed away on December 5th, 2023 in Shelton, Washington. He was born on December 22nd, 1935, to John and Violette Probert in Edgewood, Washington. Gary is survived by his two sons; Scott and Brian Probert, grandsons; Jeramey, Brandon, Bryson, and Cody, also great-grandchildren; Kori and Jack.
Gary attended Shelton High School, and then enrolled in the U.S. Army. After his time spent in the Army, he attended Olympic College and the University of Washington, and was subsequently hired at Boeing. Later, Gary felt the drive to run his own business, so he moved back to Shelton and began working locally as a carpenter and home builder. Gary was extremely meticulous and took great pride in his work, and he also valued the independence and freedom that it provided.
He loved his friends, family, hot-rods, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Clint Eastwood and "Rambo". His true passion was found in the great outdoors, specifically in hunting bull elk. He was a very successful hunter and a skilled craftsman. Our family will miss his mountain-man way greatly. He asked to keep his final days for spending time with close family; any thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. Gary truly loved his home in Mason County, and all the memories made with friends and family along the way.
