Patrick E. Carney passed peacefully at home on January 17th, 2024, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born June 2, 1937 in Irving, Kansas to Edward D. Carney, Sr. and Elnora (DeWalt) Carney.

They moved to Washington State when he was about eight years old, and lived at Minerva, what is now called Potlatch State Park. Pat married Sandra Boysen on December 20th, 1958, and they celebrated 65 years together.

Pat was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, daughter, Julie Wells, son, James Carney, daughter-in-law, Carol, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Pat's parents had a logging outfit. He felled timber for 9 or 10 years. He worked for Buck Mountain Timber Co., building roads and setting up high lead shows. He worked for Simpson Timber Co. laying out roads in the mountains and running property lines. He worked for the State Department of Natural Resources for several years, check cruising timber and was involved in the layout of timber sales. He worked as a timber cruiser for Mason County for 7 1/2 years. Then he went back in the private industry for Knudsen Pole Co., handling timber and land buying and the logging show. From there he went to Manke Lumber Co., buying timber, land and handling the logging shows. Then finally, at Mason County Road Department, running heavy equipment and taking out danger trees for them for 7 years.

A celebration of life will be held sometime this summer. If you wish to make a memorial gift, the family suggests the American Cancer Society.
