Shelton boys basketball

Shelton earned a 47-39 win against Olympic on Dec. 21 in a nonleague game at the Mini-Dome.

The Highclimbers (2-5, 1-1) host Hockinson at 7 p.m. today in the Mini-Dome in a nonleague game. Shelton will play Elma at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Mini-Dome in a nonleague game.

Shelton wrestling

Shelton’s Ty Fleshman finished sixth in the 126-pound tournament at the Pac Coast Boys Championships wrestling tournament Dec. 21 and 22 at the Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield.

Fleshman earned three wins to start the tournament against Columbia-White Salmon’s Robert Grabb IV, Stanwood’s Soren Andersen and Mount Si’s Joshua Hall to reach the quarterfinals. He lost to Clackamas’ Jeremiah Wachsmuth by a 15-2 major decision in the semifinals.

Fleshman bounced back with two wins in the consolation bracket against Battle Ground’s Zackery Motzkus and Knappa’s Corbin Roe but lost in the consolation semifinals to Skyview’s Mason DesRochers.

The loss moved him into the fifth-place match against Toppenish’s Adan Estrada, with Fleshman losing by pin to earn sixth place.

Shelton’s Logan Peach finished seventh in the 138-pound tournament. Peach won his first four matches against Warrenton’s Angel Merino-Lucas, Silas’ Eric Pham, Black Hills’ Jose Fockler and Toledo’s Carter Swofford. Peach fell in the quarterfinals to St. Helens’ Greg Hall.

He bounced back with a win against Skyview’s Giovanni Perez-Garcia before losing to Central Kitsap’s Carter Chadwick. Peach won the seventh-place match in an 8-5 decision against Black Hills’ Khristian Brant.

Shelton is back in action Jan. 4, traveling to Aberdeen at 6 p.m. for an Evergreen Conference dual meet.

North Mason boys basketball

North Mason lost to Evergreen (Seattle) 61-55 on Dec. 21 in a nonleague game in Belfair.

The Bulldogs (2-4, 1-3) play against Muckleshoot Tribal School at 7 p.m. tonight on the road in Auburn.

North Mason wrestling

North Mason’s Pedro Salvador finished in sixth place in the 165-pound wrestling tournament at the HammerHead Invitational at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion in Bremerton.

Salvador had a bye in the first round before earning wins against Sedro-Woolley’s Cooper Needham and Prairie’s Malik Home. He won in the quarterfinals by a 9-5 decision against South Kitsap’s Caleb Strobel Fox but lost by a 7-0 decision against Union’s Armando Nicacio in the semifinals.

Salvador lost to South Kitsap’s Chase Eaglin in the consolation semifinals and fell in the fifth-place match against Silas’ Carter Johnson.

The Bulldogs hosted the first day of the North Mason Hawkins Memorial tournament Wednesday and wrestling began at 9 a.m. for the second day today in Belfair.
