Michael John Smith

Michael John Smith, 67, died peacefully October 18th, 202, with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Michael was born December 28th, 1955, to Billy and Norma Smith in Gilroy, California. His family moved to Shelton, Washington in 1975 when Michael was 19 years old. On July 24th, 1978, he married Lori Ayers in Seattle, Washington. They were married for 26 years and resided in Shelton, Washington where they raised a daughter and a son. Michael attended trade school to earn his Millwright Journeyman Certification and he worked at Simpson Timber Company and Olympic Plywood Panel until he retired in 2016. Always a "jack of all trades", he even demonstrated his versatility by single-handedly remodeling his 800 square foot starter home into a comfortable family home.

He was a generous and kindhearted man. Michael was an avid outdoorsman and was a fishing and hunting enthusiast. Much of his free time he spent on his boat or in the mountains with his friends and family. He was a loving grandpa and enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his brother, Charlie Smith; brother, Donald Smith; sister, Stella Morgan; sister, Pam Stites; daughter, Brittney Linn; son, Dustin Smith; their spouses, Colin Linn and Karissa Smith; grandchildren, Anthony Smith, Natalya Linn, Evan Smith, Jordan Smith and Gabrielle Linn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Smith and father, Billy Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
