Suspects in fatal Shelton shooting still at large

Police are still searching for Shelton residents William Williams, 40, and Kennedy Karpf, 24 in connection with the shooting death of Janus Afo on Sept. 28 in downtown Shelton.

A 1999 beige Toyota Camry allegedly belonging to the couple was found abandoned at 390 E. Batstone Cutoff Road in Shelton by police after they received an anonymous tip. The car is being processed for evidence.

Prosecutors have charged Williams with second-degree murder and felony possession of a firearm.

Karpf is charged with first-degree rendering criminal assistance.

According to Karpf’s new charging papers, witness Adrianna Younglove saw

Karpf driving with Williams in the passenger seat.

“She (Younglove) observed Williams in possession of a black gun. She observed as Williams placed ammunition into firearm magazine. Karpf was with Williams as he was loading the magazine. Williams then got into the front passenger seat of the Toyota Camry and Karpf got into the drivers (sic) seat. It was at about this time, Afo arrived in another car and pulled up next to Williams. Younglove stated this is when Williams shot Afo. After Williams shot Afo, Karpf drove from the scene with Williams still in the car,” according to court documents.

Police ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of the couple to call Detective Sgt. Dan Patton or Detective James Belleville at 360-426-4441.
