League schedules speed dating event for candidates

The League of Women Voters of Mason County hosts “Speed Dating with the Candidates” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the PUD3 meeting room at 2621 E. Johns Prairie Road, Shelton. Candidates for Mason County Superior Court judge, Shelton School Board and Shelton City Council have been invited to participate. At this event, the public sits at tables around the room and the candidates rotate from table to table to answer questions directly from the voters.

Library book sale

The Friends of the Shelton Timberland Library will have an autumn book sale Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the upper level of the library at 710 W. Alder St. in Shelton. Only cash will be accepted, and customers are encouraged to bring their own bags or boxes. Children’s books, adult fiction and nonfiction will be for sale, with proceeds used to support library programs and events. Road work on 101

Through Oct. 20, travelers using U.S. 101 between state Route 108 in Kamilche and U.S. 101 at Wallace Kneeland Boulevard can expect occasional night ramp closures, single-lane closures or one-way alternating traffic as state Department of Transportation crews work to seal cracks in the highway.

Northcliff Road closed Saturday

Northcliff Road will be closed between West Birch and Poplar streets in Shelton from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday while public works crews remove a dangerous tree.
