Diana Mary Hupp

Diana Mary Hupp went to shine her light in heaven on 12 August 2023, but left a glow behind for family and friends that will be forever. That light first flashed when she lit up her parents' eyes in Coronado, California on 24 February 1942. The proud parents were James and Doris Matheson. She later showered light and love on her four siblings, Joni Fields, Katy Evans, Mary Ann Matheson and Jimmie Matheson, as they grew up. In 1966, she nodded to her husband, Jay Hupp, and captured him with a single glance. They spent the next 57 years in loving devotion to each other and to their two daughters, Tammy (who sparked her own light in her parents' eyes in 1968) and Kelley (who did the same in 1971). When daughter Tammy and Ted Putvin married in 1993, Diana naturally folded Ted into her glow and made him part of the family. Beyond being a son-in-law, Ted was an important part of what gave Diana her incredible strength in dealing with medical concerns. When she became a grandmother in 1997 with Ally Putvin's arrival, a whole new level of love showered on Ally and equally on granddaughter Ella when she was born in 2004. In addition to the light she shined on her many friends; she was a frequent bright spot for her brothers-in-law Bill Fields, Brian Evans and Jim Shewbert, and her sister-in-law Kay Sardo.

Her devotion to God has taken her to the place she knew would be her eternal home, and her family and friends will forever miss her for what she gave us all during 81 wonderful years.

She is survived by husband Jay Hupp; daughters Tammy Putvin and Kelley Hupp; sisters Joni Fields, Katy Evans, Mary Ann Matheson, and brother Jimmie Matheson; granddaughters Ally and Ella Putvin; brothers-in-law Bill Fields and Jim Shewbert; sister-in-law Kay Sardo; son-in-law Ted Putvin; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The Service will be at St. Edward Catholic Church in Shelton, on 8 September 2023 at 4 p.m., with celebration of life to follow. There will be a Rosary before the Service, at 3:30 p.m., for those who wish to attend. Interment will be privately held at a later date.

Due to allergies in the family, they ask that flowers not be sent or displayed, but that donations to favorite charities can be made instead.
