Maxine Nellie (Arbuckle) Lovitt

Maxine Lovitt went home to be with the Lord on July 4th at the age of 81 after a brief battle with cancer. Maxine was born to Fred and Ethel Nellie (Grinton) Arbuckle of McMinnville, Oregon, and was the oldest of five children. Eventually the family moved to Tacoma, Washington, where she graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1959.

Maxine married her high school sweetheart Roger Lovitt and moved to Shelton, Washington, where they had three sons. She was involved with the Elks club and very involved with her church. She was the first to open the church doors, put on the coffee, and run the sound system during services. She worked for the Shelton School District for 34 years as an Educational Assistant where she touched many lives.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ethel, husband Roger, grandson Seth, and four brothers: Gene, Ken, Paul, and Fred. She is survived by her three sons: Mike (Julie), Matt, and Jeff (Leah); three grandchildren: Brenden (Shannon), Nathan, and Zoe, and two sister-in-laws: Judy and Claudia.

Maxine's biggest joy was her family, and those who she considered family. She loved daily walks, reading, tending her plants, and listening to her wind chimes. She enjoyed going up to the mountains, having impromptu picnics, and taking adventurous car rides seeing where the road leads. Staying in touch with her children, friends, and church family was so important to her. She gave so much to others and never asked for anything in return.

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday August 19th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
