Belfair woman injured in SR 3 crash

A 63-year-old Belfair woman was injured in a state Route 3 crash Tuesday morning near Bremerton.

According to a news release, a 20-year-old Bremerton woman driving a 2006 Dodge was entering Route 3 as the Belfair woman, driving a 2004 Saturn, was northbound in the right lane on Route 3. The Dodge left the road, crossed the onramp gore point and struck the Saturn. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder.

The Bremerton woman was not injured in the accident. The Belfair woman was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital in Silverdale.

Klusman acquires John L. Scott Shelton

Kris Klusman is the new owner of the John L. Scott office in Shelton.

According to a news release, Klusman has 18 years of experience as a broker and office leader throughout Mason County.

Former owner Jamie Mell led the office for the past five years before the June acquisition. Mell will stay on the board as a broker and said she looks forward to her continued involvement in real estate.

Prior to real estate, Klusman and his wife owned coffee houses in Puget Sound before opening a real estate brokerage, Preferred Real Estate Group, in 2005. Now the leader of the Belfair and Shelton John L. Scott officers, he also works as a middle school football coach.

Car rolls off state Route 3

A 60-year-old Bremerton man was injured in a one-car accident on state Route 3 on June 15 just south of Allyn.

According to a news release, the man was driving a 2001 Toyota northbound at milepost 19. The Toyota left the road to the right, rolled and ended up in the middle of the road. The Toyota had been driving erratically prior to the collision, according to the report. The road was blocked for an hour.

The driver was transported to Mason General Hospital and was charged with a DUI.

New hours at Sheriff’s Office

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is updating its office hours to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

According to a news release, the hours will begin July 3 and it’s just a change to the walk-in services hours. There have been challenges due to understaffing in the office and to address the issue and ensure MCSO can focus on mandated duties without interruptions.

Sheriff’s Office K9 Deimos needs surgery

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is asking for donations for K9 Deimos, a 5-year-old German shepherd with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a social media post, MRI results from Friday confirmed Deimos has two herniated discs and needs surgery. Deimos was jumping into the patrol car when he experienced lameness in his hindquarters. He was taken to the vet and was able to get an MRI.

As a program primarily supported by public donations, Deputy Taylor is seeking donations to help Deimos return to action. As of Tuesday, Deimos has received $11,173 in donations, slightly more than the goal of $11,000.
