Cathern "Charlene" Leeds

Cathern "Charlene" Leeds passed away on April 18, 2023, at the age of 89.

Charlene was born to Paul and Lura (Timberman) Hurst in Shelton, Washington.

She graduated from Shelton High School in 1951, and married Earl Chappell. They had two daughters, Shelley and Nancy. Together they enjoyed circle track stock car racing and Charlene brought home many trophies while racing in the 'powder puff' at Elma race track.

Charlene was married to Josh Dunn who died unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 50.

In 1979, Charlene met and married Jim Leeds, a former Shelton High School class mate. They were married 44 years and enjoyed traveling for many years.

Charlene worked at SeaFirst bank in Shelton, Olympia and Seattle for over 25 years before retiring and opening her own quilt shop in Shelton, "Labor of Love", with her longtime friend Sue Offerdahl. Her daughters Shelley and Nancy inherited her love for quilting.

Charlene is survived by her husband Jim Leeds, daughter Shelley Chappell and husband David Werther, Nancy Johnson and husband Mike, five grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Rika Fredrickson, Gina Carlson, and Inga Herrington, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who lovingly refer to her as "Auntie Arn".

Preceding her in death are her parents, her second husband Josh, her sister Verna Belle Klinger, and friend for over 50 years, Sue Offerdahl.
