Mason County qualifies 11 athletes for state track and field championships

Mason County qualified 11 track and field athletes for the state track and field meets today through Saturday in Tacoma and Yakima.

In the state 2A track and field meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, Shelton junior Anthony Sanchelli will be the first local athlete to compete in state in the 2A boys discus finals at 3:10 p.m. today. Shelton junior Maryjane Hageman will compete at 3:30 p.m. today in the 2A girls 100-meter hurdles. North Mason senior Kezlie Thygesen will compete in the 2A girls 1,600-meter race at 5:15 p.m. today and will race in the 2A girls 3,200-meter race at 2 p.m. on Saturday. North Mason's Adrianna Tupolo will compete at 5:40 p.m. today in the 2A girls discus finals. Shelton senior Jacob Miller will compete in the 2A boys 1,600-meter race at 5:45 p.m. today and will run at 1:40 p.m. in the 2A boys 3,200-meter race on Saturday. North Mason junior Avery Ballein will compete in the 2A boys long jump finals at 5:50 p.m. today.

Shelton senior Olivia Henry will compete in the 2A girls javelin final at 10 a.m. Friday.

On Saturday, Mary M. Knight's Logan Green will compete at 12:30 p.m. in the 1B boys high jump event at Eisenhower High School in Yakima. Shelton senior Jaydon Blackburn will compete with Miller at 1:40 p.m. in the 3,200-meter race. Shelton junior Moa Skold competes at 2:30 p.m. in the 2A girls high jump finals.
