Olive Lanman

With Great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Lanman family announces the passing of our lovely and sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Olive Lanman. Olive sadly passed away in the early morning hours of May 9th, 2023, at the age of 91 just four days before her 92nd birthday.

Olive was born May 13th, 1931, in Ardenhurst Township Minnesota to her parents Ray and Iva Parr. As a child, Olive moved to Washington with her family and lived in Bremerton as a teenager. Later the family moved to Shelton, WA where she graduated from Shelton High School in 1949.

Olive met the love of her life, Robert Lanman in the coming years and the two were married and moved to Quilcene, WA where they raised four beautiful children, Kenneth, Eugene, Iva, and James. In 1966, the family moved back to Shelton, where Olive lived the remainder of her years.

Along with raising a family, Olive worked as a cook at the local schools. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She never missed an event for her kids or grandkids. If there was a soccer game, baseball game, volleyball game, dance recital etc., she was there to support us. She never forgot a birthday and always sent a thoughtful card for any occasion, happy or sad. She was a wonderful cook and showed her love for other people by cooking a great meal that would bring us all together.

Olive was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Iva Parr, her siblings Don, Glen, Joanne and Coral, her husband Robert Lanman and daughter Iva Cleveland.

Olive's memory lives on with her three sons Kenneth, Eugene, and James, along with many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There has never been a kinder and more loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Olive showed us all how to love unconditionally, be compassionate to one another, and give the gift of presence to anyone that needed a friend.

Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever. "We miss you dearly and love you always. May you rest in peace."

Please join us Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. for a Memorial Service at Shelton Christian Church to celebrate the life of Olive Lanman with family and friends.
