Edward Immel

Edward Immel was born June 22, 1925, to Victor and Katherine Immel in San Francisco, CA. He grew up in Yakima with his sister Fern his best friend before becoming a Marine at age 17. In WWII he served in the Pacific Theater as an Aircraft Mechanic.

Ed worked for Boeing for 37 years. His title was Experimental Preflight Mechanic "B" before retiring and moving to Shelton where he built his home next to his sister Fern.

Ed liked to take a picture of a house and build a very detailed miniature for the yard. He also loved to make gift of lighthouses he had built from wood he collected from the local cedar mill.

Ed was an active member of New Hope Assembly of God and volunteered at Sonrise Clothing Outreach every Tuesday for 24 years. He and Linda went on many missions trips to Mexico with youth groups. They also went to Liberia in 1997, 1999, and 2005 on mission trips to build and help the people and churches. Ed loved God and wants his friends, family and others to join him in heaven.

Ed was married to Joanne Wilson 1950 and they had three children, Thomas (Alexandra) Immel of Ballard, David (Juliet) Immel of Reno and Kathy Immel-Weber of Sulton. Ed married Linda Laney-Nichols in 1988. She had two children, Terry (Tony) Benner of Shelton and Kenny Nichols of Central Park. Ed was like a father to them. Ed and Linda adopted their grandson Randall Nichols 14 years ago. Together they have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. Ed is survived by brother Don (Marilyn) Immel of Yakima. Ed's sister Fern Goodro went to heaven in 2021.

Ed passed peacefully at home with family on April 16, 2023 at the age of 97. Memorial Service will be held May 6, 2023, at New Hope Assembly of God , 1521 Monroe Street, Shelton, WA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to New Hope Assembly JAM Program.
