United Way of Mason County presented a $10,000 United Way grant to Mason County 4-H Youth Development. A longtime Mason County resident made the grant donation, which will fund extracurricular activities for youths countywide, including the 4-H Clover program, day camp and enrollment scholarships for families that otherwise cannot afford it.

Mount St. Helens geology talk tonight

Steve Cox, retired from the U.S. Geological Survey, presents a free seminar on the dynamics of Mount St. Helens and the geology connected with it at 7 tonight at Shelton Christian Church, 115 W. Arcadia Ave. The Shelton Rock and Mineral Society presents the event at its regular monthly meeting.

Hood Canal Improvement Club hosts speaker

Hollie Stark from the Washington Emergency Management Division will talk about "Preparing for the First 72 Hours of an Emergency" and "Wildlife Safety in Our Area"...
