Brothers plead guilty

Almost two years after the crime, Jordan and Jareau Afo each pled guilty to criminal charges Nov. 8 in Mason County Superior Court.

The Afos are scheduled for a sentencing hearing Dec. 20.

According to court records, Jareau U. Afo, 28, pled guilty to one count of second-degree murder for killing Derrick Wily. Jordan T. Afo, 31, pled guilty to one count of criminal assistance in the first degree and unlawful disposal of human remains.

According to a Shelton Police report, Jareau choked Wily to death, and Jordan helped Jareau dispose of Wily’s body in November 2020. Someone alerted police, who then went to Isabella Lake and arrested Jordan Afo. Jordan then told police where the Wily’s body could be found.

According to the report, Jordan came out of the bathroom and saw Wily lying faceup and not moving in the garage while Jareau was standing up staring at the TV. Jordan went to someone’s house and did not want to call 911 on his brother and when he came back a few days later, Jareau had put Wily’s body into a cooler.
