New Hampshire college honors three Shelton students

Devin Allan of Shelton earned a spot on the President’s List for the winter quarter at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.

To be eligible, a full-time undergraduate student must earn a GPA of 3.7 or better while taking at least 12 credit hours.

Misty Ortega and Jackson Tanner of Shelton earned spots on the dean’s list for winter quarter by earning a GPA between 3.5 and 3.69.

Pioneer students excel at science fairs

Winners in last month’s Pioneer Middle School Science and Engineering Fair are sixth-graders Lillian Kight, Diego Zepeda-Soto, Julia Elkins and Zoey Baze, and Allee Goos; seventh-graders Matthew Pursey, Courtney Koth, Ryann Simmons Jr., Santiago Barrios-Garfias and Drew Helser; and eighth-graders Tawan Benedict and Alysha Bray.

Koth also placed third in the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair in the animal science and marine science category for her project “Behavioral Reactions of Littleneck Clams to Heat.” The Pioneer School District states it’s the first time one of its students had placed in the state competition.

Five will be inducted into Hall of Fame

Ricardo Del Bosque, Jamie Dobson, Chris McGee, Connie Jo Nelson and Doug Sells will be inducted into the Shelton School District & Community Hall of Fame at 5:30 p.m. June 7 in the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Harstine theater group offers scholarship

The Harstine Island Theatre Club is offering a $500 scholarship.

Applications and guidelines are available at CHOICE, Cedar, Shelton, Mary M. Knight and North Mason high schools, and at Olympic College Shelton. Aug. 1 is the deadline to apply, and the winner will be notified by Aug. 15. Completed applications can be mailed to Scholarship Committee, Chair Dee Ann Meacham, 12 East Wilson Road, Shelton 98584 or emailed to [email protected].

Vocal group concert at Shelton High

The student singing groups at Shelton High School present the concert “On Dreams & Lullabies” at 7 p.m. June 1 in the school’s Performing Arts Center.

The Shelton High School Choir, the Chamber Singers, Illusions and The Shades will perform.

Admission is free, and donations will be accepted.

The event includes the presentation of the annual choir awards and senior recognition.
