Cascade Natural Gas replacing Shelton natural gas pipelines

Cascade Natural Gas is going to replace natural gas main pipelines and service lines in a portion of Shelton.

According to a news release, the work will occur over the next five to six months beginning Monday and is an ongoing integrity management process to ensure safety and reliability of the natural gas system. Cascade identified sections of pipe for replacement based on physical, operation and maintenance components.

The work requires a short interruption of natural gas service for customers. A company representative will contact customers to schedule a brief shut off and then relight appliances.

Forest Resource Advisory Committee deadline extended

The Olympic National Forest deadline for the Resource Advisory Committee has been extended until April 25.

According to a news release, the extension is due to an effort to have a committee that fully represents the Olympic Peninsula. The committee has nine to 15 volunteers who provide recommendations to the Olympic National Forest about the allocation of money, fee proposals and projects in the forest.

Committee members must be state residents, preferably living in a county on the Olympic Peninsula. Applicants will be evaluated based on their training and experience working with the interest they represent, commitment to collaborative decision-making, and contribution to the balance and diversity of the committee.

Members are expected to attend one to four meetings per year, whether held virtually or in-person. In-person meetings will be in Mason, Thurston, Jefferson, Clallam or Grays Harbor County. Members are appointed to four-year terms and can be reappointed for additional terms. Members serve without compensation other than travel expenses to attend in-person committee meetings.

Applications can be found at tinyurl.com/mpka6588 and completed forms can be mailed to 295142 HWY 101 South, Quilcene, WA, 98376. For additional information or questions, contact committee coordinator Amber Brazil at 360-765-2255.
