Shelton Boys basketball

Shelton played its first game in almost a month, losing to Tumwater before defeating W.F. West at home.

The Highclimbers fell 68-49 on Jan. 11 at Terry Gregg Court in Shelton before earning a 58-38 win against W.F. West on Jan. 13. Chuckie Thompson led Shelton with 20 points against the Bearcats and Mason Goos added 12 points.

Shelton (5-5, 3-3) hosted Black Hills on Wednesday before traveling to Centralia on Friday to take on the Tigers in Evergreen Conference games.

Girls basketball

Shelton lost 76-18 on the road against Tumwater on Jan. 12.

The Highclimbers (0-9, 0-5) had two games postponed against W.F. West and Black Hills. Shelton has three straight home games, starting with Centralia on Thursday, Aberdeen on Saturday and Montesano on Monday.

Bowling

Shelton earned its second win of the season with a 1,351-1,199 win against Rochester on Jan. 11 at Fairway Lanes in Olympia.

Shelton (2-8) hosted Black Hills on Tuesday and travels to Fairway Lanes in Centralia to take on W.F. West on Thursday. The Highclimbers hit the road Friday to face Aberdeen at Rainier Lanes.

Swimming

The Shelton boys swim team finished second in a nonleague meet with Central Kitsap and Klahowya on Jan. 13.

Sean Morson earned the victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.24 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.87. Andrew Karr won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:57.39. Abram Ordonez won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.87.

Central Kitsap won the meet with 89 points and Shelton took second with 72 points and Klahowya ended up in third place.

Shelton travels to the YMCA of Grays Harbor to face Aberdeen on Jan. 26 for an Evergreen Conference meet.

North Mason Wrestling

The North Mason boys wrestling team had a second-place finisher and two-third place finishers in the Lads and Lasses tournament in Fife on Saturday.

North Mason’s Izaiah Smith earned second place at 122 pounds. Sean Ferber finished third at 120 pounds and Ethan Fore also took third place at 285 pounds.

Mary M. Knight Boys basketball

The Owls lost two games but defeated Wishkah Valley in Coastal League games last week.

Mary M. Knight fell to North River 56-30 on Jan. 11 at home before dropping a game at home Jan. 13 to Oakville, 63-19. The Owls bounced back with a 65-22 win on the road against Wishkah Valley.

The Owls (3-7, 3-3) hosted Taholah on Tuesday and faces Lake Quinault at home on Friday. South Bend travels to Matlock on Saturday for a nonleague game.

Girls basketball

Mary M. Knight recorded a win and a loss last week in Coastal League games.

The Owls earned a 28-27 win against Oakville at home Jan. 13 before falling on the road against Wishkah Valley, 27-26.

Mary M. Knight (4-6, 1-2) played against

Taholah on Tuesday before facing Elma-JV on Thursday in Elma. The Owls hosted Shelton’s JV on Friday before taking on South Bend in Matlock on Saturday.
