Mason Health’s Pam Schlauderaff recognized by national organization

Mason Health’s Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Regulatory Compliance Pam Schlauderaff was recognized as the community star for the state by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health.

According to a news release, the NOSORH honors people throughout the country who make contributions to improve rural health in the U.S. Schlauderaff was nominated by the Office of Rural Health within the state Department of Health.

“To me, to even be nominated by the staff at the Department of Health, that’s the biggest compliment,” Schlauderaff said in a news release. “It is a huge honor and shows the value of collaboration.”

Schlauderaff is a Shelton native and began her career in nursing 40 years ago as a nurse during the heigh of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. She went on to train people to work as nurses at a United Nations refugee camp.

In 2021, Schlauderaff obtained a certified professional patient safety credential from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

“The real way you make a difference in a community is by keeping your people well,” Schlauderaff said in a news release. “That is Mason Health’s focus. Mason Health has a bright future, and our goals and focus very much are moving toward focusing on the community good and engaging proactively with the community.”

Driver flees after crash near Sanderson Field

A driver fled on foot after crossing the center line and striking a vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and state Route 102 on Jan. 5.

According to a news release, a driver was northbound on U.S. 101 at the intersection of Route 102 near Sanderson Field. A 57-year-old Shelton man was driving south on U.S. 101 when the northbound driver crossed the center line.

The driver of the northbound vehicle fled in an unknown direction.

The Shelton man was transported to Mason General Hospital.
