Shelton Centennial Lions selling apples
The Shelton Centennial Lions are selling 40-pound boxes of fresh Fuji apples for $40 each, with the proceeds going to public projects as health screenings for Shelton students and the Shelton YMCA.
The apples can be ordered by calling Bill Scholl at 360-520-6802 or email [email protected]. Orders can also be placed on the group's Facebook page. Oct. 8 is the deadline to order the apples, which will be picked in eastern Washington. Last year, the Shelton Centennial Lions sold almost 300 boxes of apples.
Games, classes at senior center in Shelton
The Mason County Senior Activities Center hosts games, classes and other events at the Pavilion at 190 W. Sentry Drive in Shelton.
A pinochle tournament scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled.
Get help paying your heating bill
The nonprofit Community Action Council in Shelton is scheduling appointments Sept. 28 for requests for assistance paying heating hills.
The phones open at 7 a.m. at 360-426-9726 and the online schedule opens at 9 a.m. for self-scheduling at http://www.caclmt.org. Click on the light bulb icon where it says "energy assistance."
40 et 8 offering nursing scholarships
The 40 et 8 Veterans Club in Shelton is offering nursing scholarships to applicants currently in the nursing field who want to expand their education to become a registered nurse. Interested applicants can email [email protected].
