Margurite Cook-Gibson

Margurite Cook-Gibson, 94, a lifelong resident of Shelton, WA, passed away on May 15, 2024.

Margurite was born on February 24, 1930 to Norwegian parents, Harold and Klara Langeland, who were new to this country. She attended school and shared her lessons with her parents; teaching them English as she learned. After graduation, she married Ray Cook and started a family of five children. They later divorced, but remained friends. Margurite was married a second time to Thomas Gibson until his passing. She retired from Mason County District Court.

She was an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at the visitor center. Margurite loved to travel and meet other tourists coming to this area and tell them about the many things to see and do in our scenic corner of the world. Margurite was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage and made several trips to Norway, taking her children and grandchildren along to their ancestral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Jay Cook, and brother Rune Langeland. She is survived by daughters Lynn Haskins, Lori Smith, Susan Richter, Marilyn Cook, and six grandchildren.
